    {Inspired by} The Ampersand

By Chandra Fredrick | Oct 21

I love the use of letters and other typography in weddings, fashion, and home decor and design.  One of my favorite things is the Ampersand.  I’ve “collected” some photos for a while of ampersands and wanted to share that collection with you.

I love how many creative ways you can find the ampersand used!  And if you love ampersands too, check out this blog, where you can find a new ampersand every day.

    {Inspired by} A Pride and Prejudice Shoot

By Chandra Fredrick | Jul 1

It started as one of my favorite novels, and then one of my favorite movies.  Now Pride and Prejudice has inspired some of my favorite wedding eye candy!  Check out some of the gorgeous shots by Lisa Lefkowitz, styled by Anne Sage, that were featured on Style Me Pretty.

Definitely check out the full feature here, the making-of video here, and even more on Nonpareil Magazine.

{Inspired by} Lovely Dresses from Anthropologie

By Chandra Fredrick | Jun 11

When you are planning your wedding you also need to plan your wardrobe.  And not just the wedding day wardrobe; you need dresses for bridal showers, bachelorette parties, rehearsal dinners, and post-wedding brunches.  My favorite place to go for dresses is Antropologie, and below are some of my favorite picks to fill your wedding related wardrobe.  Some would even make great bridesmaid dresses!

{Bridal Shower} Chanel Inspired Bridal Shower: The Fashion

By Chandra Fredrick | May 26

One of my favorite parts of this shoot is the fashion!  I fell in love with the bridal gown first, from Dolly Couture.  The shoot was first meant to be a wedding shoot, but then we came up with a bridal shower idea, which was different and we hadn’t seen done.  But we loved that dress so much we found a way to incorporate it anyway.  If you are into short wedding dresses, Dolly Couture is the place for you.  They have so many adorable ones to choose from.  And if you are in the LA area you can see visit the salon by appointment.

The ‘bridesmaids’ wore their own black dresses.  Jewelry was provided by All Things Tinsel, Angel Black Designs, and Renee Pawele Bride.  All of the gorgeous hair pieces were made by Lo Boheme.  And the flawless hair and makeup was done by Flawless Faces, Inc (who also did all the hair and makeup on my wedding day, and I can tell you from personal experience that they are fab).

    {What I Love} Lo Boheme

By Chandra Fredrick | May 6

I absolutely love these gorgeous vintage-inspired hair ware pieces from Lo Boheme.  They are romantic, luxurious, and girly.  While perfect for any bride, you could also wear them long after your day has passed (unless you want to keep them as an heirloom for someone else, which I totally would).  Lauren has an etsy shop where she sells ready-made pieces, or takes custom orders.  And she’s the nicest person!

And an extra thanks to Lauren for sending a bunch of her pieces for a recent photo shoot I collaborated on.  I can’t wait to share those pictures with you all in the future!

Also, don’t forget to enter our giveaway- today is the last day to enter!  Go to the Erin Gallagher website, pick out your favorite piece, and then go here and leave a comment as to what your favorite is.  The winner will receive the Ginger necklace with the rutile quartz/black sapphire stone combination pictured below (which I designed!)

You have until noon PST today to enter.  We’ll announce the winner tomorrow.  Go enter at the original post here.

{A Lovely Giveaway} Jewelry from Erin Gallagher

By Chandra Fredrick | Apr 29

I’m a big Erin Gallagher fan and even bought myself and my bridesmaids customized earrings that we wore at my wedding.  The jewelry is so chic and very affordable for customized pieces.  That you can pick the style, stone, and other details makes each piece original and personal.

They have lots of great styles of earrings, necklaces, and bracelets to choose from, and you can customize with several stone options.  I choose the Grace earrings for myself and the Meg earrings for my bridesmaids, in gold with citrine stones.

Now, for the most exciting part….the giveaway.  I am thrilled to have Erin Gallagher involved in the first giveaway here at Oh Lovely Day!  Go to the Erin Gallagher website, pick out your favorite piece, and come back here and leave a comment as to what your favorite is.  The winner will receive the Ginger necklace with the rutile quartz/black sapphire stone combination pictured below.

You can comment with your favorite piece for one entry, and follow me on twitter and retweet the contest for an additional entry.  But be sure to leave a second comment that you tweeted so we can count your second entry.  You have until noon PST on May 6th to enter.  We’ll randomly pick a winner and announce the lucky girl (or guy) on May 7th.  Good luck!

    • So someone crawled under my husband's car, sawed off his muffler, and stole his catalytic converter. Which, it turns out, isn't something we have covered by insurance and costs a lot of money. Plus, my mom just left after a great week visit. And I'm hormonal. So I'm cheering myself up by eating this yummy homemade blueberry coffee cake (Trader Joes multi-grain pancake mix, for the win!) while I look at the new bamboo shades my mom hung for me while she was here. So much better than the ugly white blinds. Some people take their moms to the spa or shopping, but my mom and I do home improvement projects when she visits. She's the best
