Preppy Nautical Wedding: Jenna & Jacob

By Chandra Fredrick | Oct 7

Today’s preppy nautical wedding is a breath of fresh, colorful air. Full of vibrant colors, preppy patterns, and nautical touches, it’s as playful as it is lovely. And there are so many thoughtful details and great ideas to inspire you, captured beautifully by Awake. The perfect way to start your Monday!

The inspiration for our wedding day was nautical chic, for a Yacht Club lakeside wedding reception.  My mother and I planned the wedding; we are both lovers of anchors, navy and all things nautical.  I added the coral color into the mix and together, it turned out beautifully.  Jacob and I both love the Texas Hill Country (area northwest of Austin, Texas) for its green, rolling hills, beautiful views and many lakes.  We knew we wanted to get married there.  We wanted our wedding celebration to be personal to us and a true celebration of the people in our lives who mean so much to us.

A fun DIY for the wine-loving Father of the Bride was choosing his own beverage menu.  Instead of using the available listing from the Yacht Club, he asked for permission to serve 100% Texas wine and Texas beers at our reception.  He sourced his favorite grapes and brews and only served those exclusively.

Advice for couples planning now? Don’t lose sight of whats most important — you are marrying the person of your dreams and this is only the start of whats to come when debating over who to invite or what colors the table cloths should be. And – plan to have a private last dance, because it is the perfect way to end the best day of your life.

My favorite memory of the day would have to be our private last dance.  All of our guests left to line-up for our departure and the DJ played one last song for just us.  We danced to “Home, Sweet Home” by Zane Williams, one of our favorite Texas Country artists.  During those three minutes I was able to stop and reflect on the events of the day with my favorite person in the world holding me next to him.

I love love love the color palette, mix of patterns, and preppy touches in this wedding. Those pillows! And how fun is this boat getaway? So much to be inspired by. Congrats to Jenna & Jacob!

    • We have a (rare) date night out with friends and a sitter coming in under 2 hours but all I wanna do is lay in this bed. Aren't you supposed to get your energy back in the 2nd trimester? I think I remember that happening last time...
