By Chandra Fredrick | Jun 25

vintage postcard save-the-date from the Homesteady on ohlovelyday.comI’m excited to share a DIY from an Oh Lovely Day reader and recent bride, Hannah from the Homesteady. This is the first of a series of DIY she’s going to share from her own wedding. First up, aDIY for vintage postcard save-the-dates. Enjoy!

Hi everyone! I’m Hannah from the Homesteady. I’m so excited to share a few of the DIY projects from my wedding with all of you, starting with our save-the-dates!

My wife and I love flea markets and thrift stores, and decided to bring that retro feel to the first piece of wedding correspondence our guests would receive. We bought vintage postcards from Ebay and local flea markets, and I hand-stamped our wedding info on the back. Kristie is from Virginia and I’m from Connecticut, but we met and currently live in Massachusetts, so we tried to find postcards from those three states—and a few that didn’t quite fit that mold, but we chose just because they were so beautiful!

We included the date and location of our upcoming wedding, along with the promise of more information. I used alphabet stamps from Inkadinkadoo (the original was discontinued; find a similar one here) and a bird stamp from Paper Source to add a little something extra!

We did this for our save-the-dates earlier this year. I ordered a custom stamp on Etsy and I think they came out so great! Hunting for the post cards (all from the Tampa Bay area of Florida) was a fun activity we looked forward to on weekend trips. Here they are: http://malloryandjesse.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/photo4.jpg

Love this idea! We did something similar for shower invites. http://chalkanddot.com/2010/12/13/tahoe-vintage-shower-invites/

We made our own postcards from our own photos since finding vintage postcards can get pricy!

    • One of 100 reasons why I love @ojairesort so much. Thanks for making our anniversary dinner so special.Look what I found antiquing - vintage copy of The Sunset Cookbook, with an inscription from 1960. cc: @sunsetmagFour years ago, we came to Ojai for the first time for our first wedding anniversary. I was almost 7 months pregnant, and I ate this. It was (and still is) the best thing ever. #anniversarytradition #ojai
