5 Ways to Honor Lost Loved Ones at Your Wedding (Part 2)

By Chandra Fredrick | Jun 12

While your wedding is a day for joy and celebration many of us had or will have a loved one missing from their special day.  For me, it was my dad.  Whether you are missing a parent, grandparent, sibling, or dear friend, you may want to honor them in some way.  Keep in mind how fresh your loss is, if you’d like to honor them publicly or privately, and what the most appropriate way to honor them would be.  If you want to do something beyond lighting a candle, making mention in your ceremony program, or having a photo display like the one above, here are some ideas to get you started.

    {Color Crush} Indigo Wedding

By Chandra Fredrick | Jun 11

color crush on indigo by oh lovely day

I’ve been majorly crushing on some indigo lately.  It actually started years ago with an eye shadow.  It was love at first sight and ever since I’ve been obsessed with that deep inky shade of blue.  Then I saw this on instagram from Kristina of Lovely Morning and 100 Layer Cake and my obsession was reignited.  I’m now determined to dye every white tee I own indigo (and a few of Charlie’s too, since they don’t stay white anyways).  Then I thought, “how cool would this be, translated into wedding inspiration!?”  But first…

I love the shades of indigo and how unique each pattern of the tie dye can be.  And the color and patterns inspire other translations of pattern and palette.  It made me think of cobalt blue china, of denim, of vintage bottles.  Of all the things you could bring into a wedding.

Just think of the possibilities with an indigo wedding!  You could go modern or rustic, vintage or classic.  But I really envision it as an outdoor summer wedding.  What about you?  Crushing on indigo too?

Los Angeles Engagement at Griffith Observatory

engagement at griffith observatory | wai reyes photography

When I first moved to LA, I was a little sad to leave a city that I beyond loved (Chicago) to live somewhere new that didn’t have deep dish pizza.  But after about a year, I realized what a truly amazing place I was living in, and how many amazing spots you could find here.  One of my favorites is Griffith Observatory.  Add an adorable couple and a fabulous wardrobe, and you’ve got one of my favorite engagement sessions in a long time.

Planning Tips: Who Pays For What (Traditionally) in Weddings

By Chandra Fredrick | Jun 5

Ok, so let me preface this post by saying that these days no one is expected to pay for anything and anyone can pay for anything when it comes to weddings.  These days, things are done less “traditionally” when it comes to footing the wedding bill.  That being said, there are things that, traditionally, are assigned to the bride, groom, bride’s family, or groom’s family.  I’ve compiled a list to help guide you, and maybe to use to facilitate the conversation on who will pay for what in your wedding and what your budget should be.

    DIY Body Scrub

By Chandra Fredrick | Jun 4

DIY body scrub on oh lovely day

Remember a few weeks ago when I went to Jamaica?  While I was there I was treated to some fab spa treatments at the Red Lane Spa at Sandals Ochos Rios.  My favorite was this coffee scrub, and Marjorie from Red Lane shared how to make it at home, and now I’m sharing it with you!

The best thing about this scrub, besides that you can make and use it at home, is that it has both anti-cellulite and anti-aging properties.  Which pretty much means I’m slathering it on from head to toe in preparation for summer. Read More »
