Hey y’all! I’m taking a quick break from babyland (who am I kidding, I’m literally nursing while I type this!) to share a few of my favorite things that are making life easier or more comfortable in this new postpartum stage. I thought it might help some of you who are there too, or will be soon! Plus, I’m giving away some of my favorite goodies – wahoo!
My Postpartum Favorites:
1. Sleep bras & nursing bras – nursing boobies need support, but a comfy bra is a must. I’ve been living in sleep bras from Target and nursing bras from Bravado Designs (especially love the confetti bra and the sweet pea bra). The ones from Bravado are still pretty while being functional and comfortable too.
2. Belabumbum pjs – you spend most of your time resting, changing diapers, nursing, nursing, and nursing some more. I don’t leave the house much. So cute and comfy pjs are a must and my favorites have been these Colette pjs from Belabumbum.
3. Water in a BIG travel cup – if you’re nursing you need to drink lots of water. Plus, it’s ridiculously hot where I am so staying hydrated is key for milk production. I love my mason jar travel drink cup – I fill it up and guzzle it down. It doesn’t sweat, spill, and makes drinking a ton of water easy.
4. Nipple balm – if you’re nursing, a nipple balm is a must. I have fallen in love with this one from Zoe Organics. It is all natural, smells great, and works wonders. I’ve even been using it on my baby’s raw booty – it has healed his dry and bleeding bum better than anything else I’ve tried.
5. Starbucks Via Instant Coffee/Latte – A friend brought me these and I now can’t live without them. Brewed coffee takes time, and in the morning when you have a baby screaming to be fed, you don’t have time to make it. These little packets of Starbucks Via are instant – just add a mug of hot water. And they are tastier than brewed coffee too!
6. Saint Grace pants & tanks – my postpartum body is, well, not awesome. I still look prego, my hips are still wide and my tummy is flabby. I can’t fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes, but don’t feel good about myself wearing maternity clothes everyday. I wore the flowy pants and tanks from Saint Grace during my pregnancy and they are the perfect chic and comfy uniform for postpartum mamas. And they flatter postpartum bodies too.
7. Bamboobies – leaky boobs aren’t my fave. You finally get a shower and fresh clothes on, then your boobs leak all over you and said clothes. Bamboobies are washable and reusable nursing pads, they are soft and comfy, and they do the trick.
8. A massage and/or heating pad – I was retaining a ton of water after I delivered, and I had a lymphatic draining massage which really helped. Plus your body is sore from delivery, your neck and shoulders kill from nursing, and you need a nap. It can help carpal tunnel too. If you can’t get a massage, having a heating pad for your shoulders is helpful. I love mine – I can throw it in the microwave for 1-2 minutes and then drape it on my shoulders before and after I nurse to ease my muscles.
9. Doie Lounge Robe – I took my Doie Lounge robe to the hospital and it made me feel like a new, somewhat put together person. It’s great to wear around over my undies and nursing bras, because you never know when you’ll have 5 minutes for a quick shower, or when one of those dreaded hormonal hot flashes will appear. One of these robes on top of your dirty, sweaty, aching body just makes you feel good.
10. Nature Valley Protein Bars – I eat one of these during nursing sessions for a quick snack. I even keep one on my bedside table for late night feedings. They help keep me going when finding time to eat can be hard.
11. My Brest Friend Nursing Pillow – a good nursing pillow is a must. I was struggling during my first 10 days postpartum using my boppy – it wasn’t working for me and my baby and my neck and shoulders were killing me. I ordered a My Brest Friend and have never looked back. It has made nursing so much more pleasant and easier on my body. I hear boppys work better when nursing older babies.
12. Earth Mama Angel Baby New Mama Bottom Spray – if you have a vaginal delivery, you’re gonna have some issues “down there” afterwards. Without sharing too much, let me just say that this spray helps a multitude of issues. And it sprays while held upside down, which is key. Also helpful/necessary in the “down there” issue department: wipes with witch hazel, tucks pads, Prep H cream, pads (I prefer thick ones with the hospital’s mesh underwear as long as bleeding is heavy, then very thin pads with wings when it gets lighter).
13. Warm baths – another must for vaginal deliveries are sitz baths. But I didn’t have time for 3 of these a day so I would just indulge in one longer bath each evening, with lavender epsom salt. So helpful! These are also great as a mini-sitz bath when you don’t have time for an actual bath.
14. Solly Baby Wrap – Sometimes baby just wants to be held, and as much as you love holding him or her, your arm needs a break, your older child needs attention, or you need to get something done. I’ve found using my Solly Baby Wrap has made life easier in those situations. I also love putting Calvin in it if we’re going around people – less touching and getting in his face when he’s wrapped up on me.
15. Mother’s Milk Tea – I had supply issues with my first baby (due to an undiagnosed thyroid disorder – more on that here), so I had a low supply and also had to pump a lot. This time, I’m trying to build my supply while avoiding my pump when possible. I’ve found drinking a couple of cups of this tea everyday has helped. I also eat oatmeal for breakfast, drink lots of water, and nurse on demand when I can. Also, a wheaty beer is said to help and I say it’s worth a try!
And now for our giveaway. I’m giving away my favorite things to wear postpartum to one lucky winner. You’ll get 1. The two Bravado Designs nursing bras listed above, 2. a tank and pants from Saint Grace (style and color based on winner’s size and availability), 3. The Doie Lounge Elena robe (pictured), 4. A set of black pjs from Belabumbum (pictured), and 5. A Solly Baby Wrap (color choice based on in stock availability) so you can wear your baby!
The giveaway will end on 9/13/14 and the winner will be announced below on 9/14. Only one comment below will count as an entry, and be sure to follow instructions in the giveaway widget below. Good luck!

green juice for energy and comfy clothes!
Just a few days in as a new mama and I love thus list!
comfy PJs!
Currently 7.5. months and beginning to figure out what I’m going to need after. These are great picks!
The timing of this post couldn’t be more perfect! Baby Baldwin is due in just 6 days. 🙂
Warm pajamas and a comfy nursing bra!
I am currently almost 3 weeks post-partum, I live in PJ’s and what really has helped me keep sane is a supportive and hands-on husband.
Nursing tank tops were a must for me!
The months after giving birth to my daughter were such a blur that I don’t remember what I relied on! I was separated from my husband (we were living in guinea when I was pregnant) so the support of my family (who I was staying with at the time) was huge!
I am pregnant with my first (and second) right now and this list is awesome!
Several pairs of black (not too tight) yoga pants are my postpartum go to. Made me feel more put together to change out of PJs into a top and pants.
Thanks for all the tips!
I’m on the countdown till I need all of these. Getting nervous! Love the tips!
Loved reading your list. Baby girl is due in less than 7 weeks! I’m not sure what my favorite things will be as I am going to be a first time mom, but this list looks like a wonderful place to start!
I haven’t had the luck in life yet to know 🙂 Entering with an expectant friend in mind!
I love taking a long, hot bath while reading a book! Always makes me feel better & more refreshed!
I won’t be postpartum until the New Year, but already have a lot of these things on my list and would love to have them for after the baby comes! What a great giveaway!
Our baby boy is 2 weeks yesterday and loves when mama is in her Gillian Omalley pjs from target and uses the Zoe Organics line the both of us 🙂 Sitz bath was a life saver as a tea in the peribottle!
great tip with the sitz tea in the peribottle! I used the Earth Mama bath tea but like this method even better!!
Its the little things! 🙂 I also made pad-sicles with the leftover tea that didn’t make it into the peribottle. Our midwives were awesome with having the best advice.

I love my target wide legged pj pants! They’re comfy and soft without looking frumpy!
Pregnant with our second and know now how important these are. Would love this!!!
comfy, cute pjs and a great robe! lifesavers.
Comfortable, elastic waist pants!
I love having Pjs that are comfy but still pretty!
I don’t have any of my own tips (yet), but I hear that nursing tanks are awesomely helpful.
Oh I so need this before delivering my first baby next month!
I’m due with my 2nd little bundle of Joy in Jan these would be awesome to win and great job explaining everything.
I am due in one month and I can only imagine how comfortable the PJ’s and robe will be. All my robes are now to short. 🙁
Love that outfit!
My breast friend has been very helpful with my one week old!! Very supportive and comfortable!
My belly bandit saved me after my C-section! It sucked my tummy in and kept my underwear off of my scar. I know it sound weird, but it was a lifesaver!
Epsom salt baths made me feel good.
Thanks for all these helpful tips! Frst baby is coming soon, and I love having some suggestions for what to have for me when we bring baby home! 🙂
A good nursing bra, which is hard to find!
My nice cozy slipper socks LoL it kept me cozy and I didn’t have to worry about those yucky hospital floors 🙂
What a great giveaway! I am due with my first baby in early November so I’m not sure what I’ll need/love most postpartum but I already had my sights on a lot of the products on your list – like the Earth Mama spray and a Solly Baby wrap. A My Brest Friend is already sitting in my bedroom, ready for baby – I’ve heard great things. Another big thing I’m planning for postpartum is stocking up on meals, snacks and other basics (like toilet paper, etc.) Hopefully we’ll be ready for lots of days in a daze after baby arrives 🙂
so necessary : yoga pants to keep all that postpartum weirdness tucked in place! Target has great ones for way cheaper than Victoria’s Secret, although those are the holy grail of yoga pants 😉 a good water bottle (read : spill proof!), awesome nipple pads to catch all of that extra milk leakage, and the Solly wrap you guys.. Splurge and buy one NOW! two hands is like a lottery ticket sometimes.. Love this post!
I cant go without my Baby wrap, I can carry my 3 month old baby girl around with me, she loves the contact and hearing my heart beat, so its a great way for us to bond while Im doing my house work.
Great advice for a soon-to-be first time momma.
The robe seems super nice for postpartum!
I think my favorite post partum item was the belly binder I used (I can’t remember the brand, but the hospital also gave me a great one). I had a csection so it helped keep everything tight and really helped me get back to work after 4 weeks of maternity leave.
PS. I’m still wearing maternity clothes on occasion and my daughter is 16 months old. Why are maternity clothes more comfortable than nonmaternity clothes?!
Wide leg lululemon sweatpants and black nursing tanks!
Comfy slippers with grippers so you can step outside!
What great ideas!!
Comfy leggings and button-down shirts for easy nursing!
Just comfy pants and loose fitting shirts. I try for comfy not sloppy – fine line.
Comfy pajamas and tucks pads were an absolute must! I love your list.
I haven’t ever been through postpartum, but I’m about to experience it for the first time in less than a month! I think the baby wrap would be super awesome to have though!
I use my ergo with infant insert all the time!!! And WATER!
I would adore winking these goodies! I’ve budgeted for Baby’s needs, but am fining the larger I grow, the more I need to budget on my own to be comfy too!
This would take a load off!
Having fluffy slippers for my feet were a huge help! My hubby found some flip-flop style, with rubber bottoms, but soft fluffiness on top and on the bands, perfect for the hospital because they didn’t get filthy or too hot
Definitely the pillow and spray for down there. If you can’t feel comfortable down there it pretty much sets the mood of a bad day vs a good day
Soft pajamas and a shower. After a c-section and a few days in the hospital, it’s so nice to be in something soft that doesn’t itch and to wash off all of htm he hospital yuck or sweat and breast milk
I can’t wait to find the perfect robe! I’m due in December and I know it will be extra chilly in the middle of the night when I get up for feedings.
Great nursing bras are a must!
What a great giveaway! All these items seem like they would be so helpful!
Being 4 weeks post delivery all of these things would rock my world!
Thanks for all of these tips! I only have 2 more months and I will be in this stage (eek!!)
Love!!! Need! 🙂
Please pick me — baby due in February and everything is on my wish list 🙂
Definitely wish I would have gotten a My Brest Friend. The Boopy just doesn’t offer the back support that nursing mamas need.
I’m due any day now with my twins and I’m thinking the my Brest friend pillow will help a lot with feedings!
Water, lanolin, and mothers milk tea helped with my postpartum breastfeeding hurdles with my first little one. Due this month with baby 2 and I can’t wait to see how the solly baby wrap helps, hopefully it will help with juggling 2 under 2!
I am a bit away from postpartum but I have heard that a good soft robe is a wonderful thing to have!
This would be Oh So Lovely come post-baby body, leaking, healing, nursing, aching, loving!!
A daily shower, soft flowy pajama pants and a nipple shield!
earth mama nipple butter saved me in the hospital! Now I would love those cute flowy pants until my postpartum body fits back into some of my normal clothes again! Thanks 🙂
A good, soft robe!!
I’m due in October but I feel like the nursing bars are a must have.
Would love all of these amazing things
i’m due december 1st and this giveaway would be AAAAAMazing!
I adore this giveaway and since I am due with baby boy number two in exactly two weeks its perfect time for me to WIN.THIS.CONTEST
I’m 39 weeks and 4 days with my first, so I can’t honestly say what my post-partum essentials are! A friend did give me a Brest Friend pillow and I have heard they are an absolute must; I can’t wait to use mine! The patterned fabric is adorable, too 🙂
Amazing products!
I’m 39 weeks pregnant with my 3rd and am anxiously awaiting the postpardum phase! All of these things sound so lovely!
our boys have the same birthday! i tried the hoppy too for my eldest boy but only the brest friend worked for me, now I’m using it for my newborn.
I can’t wait to try the Solly baby wrap! I’m due in December and can’t wait to use it to snuggle my little girl!
What a great giveaway! I am pregnant with my first (!!!!) and these things will totally come in handy in the coming months!!
Ps- your new little guy is completely precious!
My favorite post partum items would have to be My Breast friend nursing pillow, bellefit corset and a shower and more than 2 hours of sleep in a row (can I get an amen?!;)). Love you and your blog! I had my baby just a few days/week before so I kind of feel like we are going thru this together 🙂
I agree with buying yourself some comfy pants to make yourself to feel better! I’ve also been loving the boppy!
I would love them all- esp the solly baby wrap!
I am 7 weeks PP and I still feel like I haven’t found the right nursing bra. I am loving my nursing tanks from Target by Basics though. And let’s be honest…a glass of wine made me feel more like a person again.
We have just 3 weeks to go before our first arrives so clearly I’ve been OCD scouring the internet for opinions on what to buy. Love your lists and would love to have ALL of these in my hands!
Comfy nursing clothes
I haven’t had our first yet, due any day, but really like the list for ideas to make things easier on myself afterward!
Thank you that your doing another giveaway! Good luck to all Mommys!
I love rest for postpartum!! I know that’s not a “thing” but seriously just to be in bed and nurse is the best. I always try to do things too soon…this time around I’m going to rest!
Robe! I want a quick cover up for visitors!
I want it all!!! I need it all!!! In 6 weeks or less:)
Always having water nearby! And My Brest Friend. Best nursing pillow out there. The boppy and anything like it is useless with a newborn.
These are great tips! Just 7 weeks until my due date!
My nursing bra! Awesome giveaway- I’m 4 weeks postpartum today 🙂
Thanks for the great tips! Due in 2 weeks with my first and really nervous!
Nothing beats a shower!!!!
Love all of these! Due any day with my second.
I love the robe! It looks perfect for PP!
I am due with our first in early December and your blog has been such a life saver for good advice on great things to use pre and post baby. I already got the body pillow you recommended and it is a saving grace so I can only imagine how helpful your recommendations for what my life will be like once this little baby arrives! I am already eyeing that Starbucks pumpkin spice mix 🙂
You and I are about a week apart postpartum so I totally agree with all of your thoughts! I can’t live without my bravado nursing bra and would love more, as well as coconut water to rehydrate, and Hail Merry snacks for 1-handed eating!
I’m not sure about my favorites yet. My first baby is due any day now!
Cozy pajamas definitely!
Help was the greatest thing postpartum with my first! All I wanted to do was sit around and cuddle her. Due with #2 soon!!
After having my first 2 children what made me feel good was having a comfortable nursing gown I could wear around the house, and the boppy pillow was a lifesaver! I’m excited to learn about these products since i’m now pregnant with baby #3!
Love those pants!!! Good to think about what I might need for myself when baby arrives.
Honestly, good underwear! After birth, everything just wants to get out and you need something comfy that you can add protection to while still being comfortable!
Comfy nursing cami’s are a must! I lived in mine.
Amazing giveaway! Would be stoked to win. 🙂
The very best thing I had postpartum was my lovely mother helping me!
oh my goodness! =) I recommend those Target bras to everyone too! =) They are SO amazing! The best I’ve ever come across… In the beginning I was so lazy/tired – I wore them all day too. =)
I lived in nursing camis and loved my Boppy!
I’m due with my first baby in November so I don’t have a favorite thing yet but I’m looking forward to trying the Solly baby wrap! It’s going to be so cozy this winter carrying a baby!
i’ll have to check out the mama spray! i’m expecting my 2nd in a couple months and have been dreading the recovery – thanks so much!
My postpartum must have is comfortable pants.
I think my number must have would be comfortable pants.
I’m not yet at the postpartum stage, but having struggled with depression and sciatica throughout my pregnancy, I would imagine that a lot of these items will help me to feel good after my baby boy is born! In particular, I have heard My Brest Friend is really helpful for breastfeeding and preventing back pain and neck pain!
I could not have survived without the bottom spray! Also, I wore my newborn in the moby wrap for the better part of 4 months since she wanted to be held all. the. time.
Black underwear–need I say more 😉
Those pants look so comfortable for being comfy post baby!
naps, naps are definitely saving my sanity.
Glider rocker! To calm both mommy & baby 🙂
As a new pregnant mom, all is these will be handy soon! http://Www.handmadebykelly.com
I had my first daughter via c section and now need to with this baby due in two months. Being comfortable with the right bra and clothes really makes me feel better. I hope I win so I can look forward to being comfortable after surgery
The pants & tanks look like very comfortable! Maybe I need when I have a baby, thanks:)
So this is pretty much AMAZING! Thank you so much for sharing!!
My starbucks travel mug, via packets, greek yogurt, bamboobies and a good nursing cami or for going out your favorite bra and an undercover mama tank! Also a fun pair of shoes 🙂
I’m not sure what my must have item will be but will find out soon!
I actually had the bobby newborn lounger instead of the traditional boppy and I loved it. I used a breast friend pillow to nurse and the lounger to sit my baby in and I loved it. I don’t see many people use it but it is seriously the coolest little pillow.
nursing tanks, and nice stretchy pants
I am due with my first baby in December, so I can’t answer this question yet but I am thinking a nice warm shower will make me feel a lot better.
I am not sure what my favorite thing will be but I will definitely let you know!! Such a great giveaway!
I am about 2 weeks away from having my first baby, a baby boy!!! So far I have already invested in many target sleeping bras to get me through the first few months! All of the other goodies look amazing!!!!
My favorite things would have to be a water bottle. That is kind of silly, but I always forget to drink water during the day so it helps me to remember!
Not postpartum yet but comfy pajamas and yoga pants getting me through pregnancy for sure
I’m not postpartum yet but you gave me some great ideas!
So many fabulous items! Thank you for the giveaway and the helpful post. I am 20 weeks along with my first child. The Doie Lounge Robe and Solly wrap look wonderful!
Love these! Great for me as a first time mom – due date Halloween!
My firstborn will be a mommy in less than a month! That means I’m gonna be a grandma! I can hardly wait. I’d love to bless my daughter with this postpartum surprise!

I’d love to win this! I’m exactly 2 weeks begin you in the postpartum Journey – what a joy it is!!!
Ahhh! These look fabulous ! Comfy lounge clothes & good (I agree! Bravado!) bras make all of the difference postpartum. I lived in nursing tanks & soft oversized boxer shorts (so fashionable, I know but they were loose & comfy) after I had kate in a hot hot hot July. Baby #2 will be in the middle of winter so I definitely need some comfy long pj pants!!
Thanks for the list of must haves. I am expecting my first and love the suggestions!

Those pjs look like a dream ☺️
I don’t have any favorites yet…..expecting my first any day now! All if this stuff looks so great I would love to try it all out!
What a sweet way to show some momma some love. Nothing better than feeling loved during that struggle of a post-partum period.
This would be such a blessing and a great mommy birthday gift! My birthday is tomorrow 9/13/14 & I could use the nursing bras and a solly baby wrap for my son 🙂 ❤️
I’m due in 6 weeks and this would be amazing to win. Looks so comfortable already!
Love the Solly baby wraps!!!
What a great collection of products.
Milly and Calvin have the same birthday!! A pedicure is what finally made me feel like a normal person 🙂
I loved soaking my cracked nipples in tiny paper water cups in warm water and salt. Its like a sitz bath but for your nipples. They felt wonderful (sorry tmi) but it was the best thing ever. Also those cold pads for my vjayjay I was in heaven. And lose fitting clothes so I can breastfeed at ease she was a high maintenance baby she lived on my boobs hint the crack nipples.
Excited about the Solly Baby Wrap! Many moms I’ve talked to say wearing their baby is the only way they can get anything done.
Congrats on your little one! Painting my nails made me feel so good in those first days home. Even if I felt like a wreck at least my nails looked pretty. A you can’t be a good bath with Epsom salt!
Excited for this giveaway! There’s so many good things!!

What an awesome giveaway. Perfect for my one week old!
I am 32 weeks pregnant with my second boy 🙂 I would love this prize!!
This list is great! Overshare, but I just had a baby 4 days ago and I am wearing adult diapers to bed so I don’t leak at night! My “down there” is no bueno at the moment!
I love the pajamas!
I am due in April and all of these things sound amazing for post baby!! Thanks for an awesome giveaway!!
Comfy pj’s, tea, warm baths, and my husband were all nesessities post partum!
what a generous giveaway! my favorite things are my nursing bra/cami, my iphone games to get my mind off of nursing when it’s painful. and then nipple cream is a must!
I agree – this is such a generous giveaway! What saved my sanity was switching to exclusive pumping – my little guy just wouldn’t latch well. My favorite thing was to download a number of devotional to help keep me awake and focused. The support of my husband and our family’s has made this possible to keep trucking too.
going on a walk with my baby!
I practically lived in my bath robe when our first is born. It was so easy for breastfeeding. Next baby is due in January, so I may have to upgrade to a warmer robe.
I’m so excited for this giveaway! What a great group of goodies!!
I love reading a good book while I nurse!
I will be a first time mom, expecting at the end of January but I love getting ideas for what to have on hand in those first few days after birth. I love Doie Lounge Robe and I’m sure they would be great and soft and cuddly for right after the birth, looking cute at the hospital.
I love the baby wrap
After my daughter was born I loved my Earth Mama Angel Baby Booby Tubes. They could be used warm or chilled to either aide with milk let down or comfort soreness for early breastfeeding.
Definitely the baby wrap!!
This is a fabulous giveaway! Fingers crossed!
Showers! Even if I can’t wash my hair I feel like a normal person when rinsed off.
I’m looking forward to the comfy nursery pajamas and a nice got shower while someone else loves on the sweet baby girl. 🙂
Yoga pants are my postpartum must have. I wasn’t ready for “real” pants yet!
Best thing after baby was by far a baby carrier, definitely kept me sane in those early days! Also a hot shower!
It’s been 5 years since my last so the biggest thing I can remember is having a good bra! I don’t remember really struggling with sleep or body issues because I have such a great support network and am fairly healthy… I am so blessed.
Great collection of prizes! I would love to win!
My first baby is due October 21 so I’m not sure what (if anything) will make me feel normal but I love all the suggestions from blogs like yours!
Naps naps naps!!!
Just had my little guy 5 days ago, so I need ALL the things! Haha especially clothes that flatter a postpartum body and everything for nursing!
earth mama bottom balm is great!
Comfy clothes!
I’m 2 weeks postpartum and I can’t live without a basket of snacks and a bottle of water with a straw for breastfeeding!
i had a c-section with my first and MAN was i in for a ride. it was so hard. and i was not prepared in the wardrobe department, AT ALL. i literally sat in my hospital gown for about 4 days after the hospital. how UNsexy! now as i wait for baby #2, i know i need to be prepared on a whole new level and ready for anything! i did love to buy comfy and cute nursing bras though, totally helped when feeling like a leaky messy cow!
I enjoy long relaxing baths after everyone is gone to bed! My time! 🙂
Cannot live without my Lifefactory water bottle!
This info is super helpful! I am 7 weeks feom my due date and all I can think about is being comfortable.
