Happy Weekend lovelies! I’m sure many of you are celebrating Halloween this weekend or doing something really fun for fall. Unfortunately Charlie and I brought some sickness back from Kauai – Charlie has the croup (poor fella!) and I have whatever the virus gives you as an adult, which is basically a wicked cough, body aches, and fever. So, while you’re at a pumpkin patch or putting on your Katniss Everdeen costume, think of us. But we did just get back from Kauai, so I guess it isn’t all bad – I may be sick, but at least I have a tan.
I’ve got some great posts coming up soon about my trip to give you some tips for honeymoons & destination weddings (or just a family vacation!) but until then, here’s a little peek (unless you follow me on instagram and saw the highlights throughout my trip).
I had some fabulous guest posters while I was away. I mean FABulous. In case you missed any, here’s your recap:

If you’re in So Cal, mark your calenders for Wiley Valentine’s annual holiday pop-up shop! I went last year (but sadly will not be able to attend this year). Go scoop up some goodies for me!
My friend Mindy is selling some pretties on etsy with 100% of the proceeds going to charity.
My friend Allison is doing a kickstarter campaign to fund gallery shows for her one-of-a-kind artisan jewelry. Her stuff is amazing.
And last but not least, while I was on vacation I learned that Oh Lovely Day was included in a Buzzfeed article on 40 Personal DIY Details from Real Weddings (including one I did for my own wedding at #5). I was thrilled. But when I read the comments for the piece I realized that there are so many haters out there and it bummed me out. I mean, go read the post and then read the comments. Is it just me or do those people have a bigger agenda than hating DIY weddings? Like just hating life. It makes me sad that there is so much negativity out there towards weddings, or DIY, or a DIY I did for my own wedding. I certainly didn’t try to hurt or offend anyone, so why would people go out of their way to leave nasty comments about something they are trying so hard to say they don’t care about? I just don’t get it…. Maybe go over there and leave some love and positivity if you like what you see. I know DIY or weddings or whatever isn’t for everyone. But there are things out there that aren’t for me, and I don’t go around pooping on other people’s parades. Maybe I need a thicker skin.
On a lighter note, have a fun fall weekend and drink a pumpkin beer for me (yes, I’m one of those people that like everything pumpkin flavored in the fall – I live in LA, pumpkin is all I have to make it feel like fall!)
xx

There are always going to be haters out there who want to take a piss all over your house, you know? They just can’t help but be negative. Let it go. Those people who have nothing nice to say are likely jealous that you have a dream job, dream life etc. All that stuff was pretty tame compared to the traffic boost I got from attending the Blogcademy – my post was linked on some forum that hates on Gala Darling like it’s some sort of sport. I was called all kinds of names for spending money to attend that workshop – it was pretty much my first brush with internet hate EVER and I have to say I just laughed because a. honestly wouldn’t believe how many hits I got from being in included in that forum and b. I was there, I know what happened and what didn’t happen so I knew that everything they said was total BS.
Anyway – don’t worry about it š
Thanks Sara, and sorry to hear that you had to deal with that. I’m working on getting a thicker skin myself š
Haters gonna hate. They are wasting their energy on negativity – don’t waste yours by thinking about them!
So true, Ruby. Just checked out your site – so cute & love your header/logo! š
Hey Chandra, don’t worry about people hating. Sometime they just have a bad day (or a bad life, whatever) – but for real, we love the DIY wedding stuff. Keep up the great work on your blog!
Wedding Event is really a romantic event for any one you have discussed about good topics, thanks.
