When I got this submission from Troy Grover Photography, I was excited. I’m such a fan of their work, so I knew the photos would be lovely! But when I saw the vintage travel-inspired DIY and details, I was giddy. And the words from the bride about what they wanted their wedding to be about sealed the deal. There is so much to love here – the vibrant red & beige palette, the fab bridesmaid dresses, the sweet DIY, the vintage touches…Oh, and the bride’s to-die-for glam shoes! See for yourself!

Some sweet words, DIY details, and make-it-YOU inspiration from the bride:
The inspiration behind our wedding was a nod to the era of my favorite movie “the notebook” but also that Micah and I love traveling. He has traveled all over the world competing in swimming and Surf Lifesaving competitions. I studied in Spain and have traveled all over Europe. We cant wait to start traveling the world together. We wanted to showcase our passion for traveling but with a vintage twist. We wanted our wedding to reflect us so we agreed on a vintage travel themed wedding. I love all things vintage! Such romance from the past! We named each of our tables after countries that we have been to and to distinguish tables we placed framed pictures that we took while in that particular country. It was a piece of our history on each table. The escort cards were written on vintage postcards. I hand wrote a note to each guest on the back of the card welcoming them to the wedding and sharing a memory or something that we admired about that person. It was a very tedious process but we wanted our guests to know how special each of them are to us and how grateful we are to have them in our life. We wanted the wedding to be about us as a couple but also focused on our guests having a good time and feeling a part of the experience. We had a photobooth and our guests made a scrapbook out of the photos they took. It was awesome going through the pictures and seeing how much fun they had and how creative they got in the photobooth! We had an area setup with vintage hats, shawls, jewelry (all things I found at the flea market or in my grandmothers things) and had felt lips and mustaches on sticks that guests could use in the photobooth. I loved it! We both love to dance and basically fell in love on the dance floor so we wanted a big party and wanted to see everybody let loose and get their dance on! For our entrance as husband and wife, I had changed into a shorter dress just for the opening dance and we surprised everyone by doing a choreographed salsa to salt n pepa’s “Push It.” My bridesmaids didn’t even know until I had to ask them to help me get out of my wedding dress very quickly! Loved the element of surprise. Halfway through the dancing we brought out glow sticks and our guests really got their party on!

I lobe everything about this wedding! It is beautiful and I love the theme!!
I know the bride, she is a truly unique and wonderful person! Her wedding is a reflection of her beauty inside and out, I’m do glad she has married the love of her life:)
This is very pretty and love the bouquet!!
This wedding is truly amazing. From the color choices all the way to the centerpieces and of course the brides fabulous shoes. I love the vintage feel and the traveling details they used. I have to give kudos to the bride and groom for so many of those DIY items. The wonderful thing about this wedding is that it is very budget-friendly. These are items that you can find at any flea market or your parents basement/attic. Just like this bride not many brides-to-be are aware how crafty they can actually be when creating their own dream wedding. I especially enjoyed the fact that they named each table after the country they visited and included their photos, such a great personal touch. Speaking of personal touches that idea about adding a personal note on each escort card was a beautiful idea that was surely appreciated by their guests. This would be an inconvenient option for a wedding that has a lot of guests especially big weddings with 150, 200, 300 etc. However, when you have a small wedding with your closest friends and family it is a great little gift to give back. Congratulations Carly & Micah, amazing wedding for a beautiful couple.
P.S. Special kudos to the photographer Troy Grover Photography and of course Oh Lovely Day for posting this great wedding.
