{Styled Shoot} Vintage World Travel Wedding

old world travel wedding shootI love vintage, I love travel, and I love weddings.  So today’s styled shoot sent to me by Tiffany Walsh with Wedding 101 Nashville is pretty much a no brainer.  I’m a big fan of vintage globes and maps, so the map paper airplanes, the maps decoupaged onto the plates, and the globe altar decor are hitting my sweet spot.   (more…)

{Inspiration Board} Trend for Spring: Pretty Pastels

spring trend: pastelsThis week I’m sharing some inspiration in lover.ly’s newsletter for ways to make your wedding YOU, and on their blog with a bundle of pretty pastel inspiration.  I was so inspired bundling pastels for my spring trend post that I decided to create an inspiration board to share with you all.

The mint trend continues for spring, but gives way to a whole spectrum of pretty pale shades.  Pick a couple of your favorites or mix and match a whole bunch.  There’s lots of fab ways to do pastel.  Go over to lover.ly’s blog today to see my full post!  And while you’re there, check out their pretty new look!  LOVING it.

Do you love these soft hues as much as I do?  Are they making you long for spring?  If so, check out this pretty pastel bridal shoot, this gorgeous mint + pink wedding,  and the links in the photo credits below for more original pastel features on Oh Lovely Day.

Have You Discovered Loverly Yet?

Hi Lovelies!  Happy Monday to you all.  Were you up late watching the super long Oscars like we were?  What did you think?  There were so many wonderful films and performances this year that it was hard to pick a favorite.  But I did have a favorite best dressed – Naomi Watts in her gunmetal sequin gown was stunning (she also probably deserved the Oscar the most – if you saw The Impossible you know what I’m talking about!)  I also loved Amy Adams gorgeous ballgown, Reese Witherspoon’s hair, Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain…(you already know this if you follow me on instagram so sorry to be repetitive)  Who was your favorite?

So, have you heard about lover.ly yet?  I put it on my Top 10 Websites to help with your wedding planning, and I’m always over there bundling (see my bundles in the photo below)!  It’s THE search engine for weddings and such a great tool for wedding planning and inspiration!  But just in case you haven’t, here’s a little education for ya.

Soaked Oats Recipe + Food to Love

soaked oats recipe | lovely ever after

Happy Friday, and welcome to our first official Lovely Ever After post!  In case you missed the announcement, Oh Lovely Day is starting a weekly series called Lovely Ever After.  Inspired by my post-wedding days, especially my time as a mother, I want to share inspiration and tips for newlyweds, nesting, entertaining, and all things baby.  A lot of focus will be put on practical tips and real stories from myself and other mothers, and I’ll be asking my momma friends and favorite mom bloggers to help out as well.  I’ll definitely be sharing my story and what I’ve learned along the way, including my struggle with postpartum depression, nursing, sleep training, feeding a picky toddler, and many other things that I wish I had heard someone else talk about while I was going through it myself.  But today my friend Rachelle of Wiley Valentine is sharing a favorite healthy recipe with us that is sure to please even the pickiest eaters in your family.  Rachelle writes a regular Mom Monday series that I love and also recently started Food to Love, an empowering workshop giving parents the knowledge and tools to feed their families with love.  Since I’ve struggled with a picky toddler myself, this post is especially helpful for parents like me.  Take it away, Rachelle!  (more…)

{Real Wedding} Christine & Andrew: Totally Handmade + Unique North Carolina Wedding

couple at sunset in this handmade North Carolina weddingYou know how I always say “make it you?”  Well, this couple truly took that to heart while planning their own wedding.  After strongly resisting the urge to elope, this couple decided if they were going to have a wedding, they were going to do it their way and really tailor it to reflect who they were as a couple.  And while they infused it with all handmade details, fun elements, and other things they loved, they really put their ceremony at the forefront of their day (which seems to be less and less common these days).

What WE think made our wedding MOST unique, is that we really tried to make the CEREMONY the main event. Often times, the ceremony seems to be a quick 20 minute generic service, and the reception is where it’s at. Don’t get us wrong, our reception was fun, but we wanted to make sure that no one forgot the REAL reason we were all gathered… to make a covenant. We really wanted to use our wedding as a tool to witness to and involve our friends and family in our marriage… and we think, at least we hope, that was accomplished… it definitely impacted us, to say the least.

Our wedding was a mix of rustic (Andrew) and vintage (Christine) and if it wasn’t handmade by us, it was bought from a handmade shop on Etsy. The music was all hand picked from our iPod, with selections from All Sons and Daughters, Gungor, Rend Collective Experiment, JJ Heller, Phil Whickham, Andrew Peterson, etc. The ceremony and reception, both took place in an old Rock Quarry… we had a bonfire lit and our favors were S’mores kits… and we even jumped off a cliff, into the water, in our wedding clothes! (with life jackets too, of course).

I love that they put their emphasis on the ceremony, which is something my husband and I tried to do as well.  If you aren’t having a religious ceremony in a church or house of worship it is really up to the couple to build the ceremony they want.  This couple added their own ideas; my husband and I wrote our own ceremony that included a ringwarming to make ours personal.

Plus, the handmade details, mustard yellow color palette, and gorgeous lace bridal gown are fabulous too 🙂  Congrats to this sweet couple!
